Good News Everyone!
This week the team has made progress on a few fronts:
Infrastructure
We've begun looking into how our future CI/CD pipeline might look in terms of which providers and which infrastructure architecture could be a good fit for our use case and will allow us to move forward with reasonable costs and shared admin access to various services. Special thanks to @JoshStrobl for stepping up and doing a bunch of research and general thinkering in this area. We haven't yet decided on anything and as always, our BDFL @Ikey has the final say before we commit to any particular solution.
Development Developments
@Ikey is knee deep in some planned rework of our package and system management tool moss
. So far, he's only broken moss-deps
a teensy tiny bit and looks set to make good progress on the LMDB
-based moss-db
moss
rewrite. He's super stoked about the progress and the promise of the rewrite in terms of their impact on the planned Summit
Serpent OS dashboard bringup and the Boulder as a Service Avalanche
distributed build-service codebases.
@ermo is knee deep in boulder
and moss-format
feature work and has been doing some of the associated donkey work related to the move from gitlab back to github. He's also been working in the background on infrastructure related planning and has tried his best to keep the onboarding process working smoothly despite the various changes on the code and hosting fronts. Thank you to @CorvusRuber and @rantnar for their help testing the onboarding process from a new contributor perspective!
@sunnyflunk is currently away until sometime in September. We hope he's having a lovely time and look forward to welcoming him back.
@ulaas is sitting patiently and quietly in the background, but has been kept informed of (and participated in) the infrastructure related goings on. He's currently less available than he would have liked, but Real Life™ issues are keeping him occupied for the moment.
