It has been awfully quiet here. Has the vision for SerpentOS been consumed by silence? Is SerpentOS still a dream or just a fleeting memory?

Hey Gavin 🙂 I've tried to keep folks updated via our blog, Twitter, Mastodon and Matrix.
Undoubtedly since the announcement of us working with Solus, Serpent took a back seat in most
folks minds.

In reality Serpent is running with a skeleton crew with virtually all of the original contributors having
returned to Solus or left. Currently we're working on a Rust port of moss:

github.com/serpent-os/moss-rs

It's actually coming along nicely, and will trivially replace the old moss very soon. Then its infra revamp, triggers (usysconf-rs) and reissue ISOs, etc.

With my work and personal life, I try and stick as much time in as I can. Sad reality is contributions dipped to non existent which forced me to find a full time job again, and interest/support never picked up again. I'm still intent on delivering Serpent, and Solus guys want to base v5 on Serpent.

The journey there has complicated things for Serpent in unpredictable ways. I'd quite like if this place came back to life tbqh.

I totally understand and appreciate this.

The goal that has been articulated for Serpent is one that I really love and hope to see comes to fruition. If only I could code I would have been a part of the team.

I've also noted that activity has picked up at Solus, and that augurs well for my present favourite distro.

Also, the short vid with moss below demonstrates it speed, and I particularly like the fact that the terminal is clean and uncluttered. Good work all around.

Thanks, couldn't have done the port without tarkah tbh. With the advent of a-piece-of-pisi, the future is bright for both projects I imagine.

Just needs a bit more donkeywork first 🙂
